Competition Brief: Design page 1 of the celebrated novel Great Expectations in a conceptually strong, typographic execution.
Role: Concept and Graphic Design of entry in the published book.
Page 1: Great Expectations is a book celebrating both the original novel and the act of reading, with seventy designers interpretations of the first page. My design was chosen to be part of the project and questions the fast pace that we read at in our often hectic, modern lives. The use of the sans serif typeface, exaggerated leading and right alignment of the text slows reading, whilst the bookmark furthers this idea and continues the concept of firsts with an exerpt of the first publication by Charles Dickens.
